Castle Boymont

The romantic castle, built between the 1220’s and the 1240’s, is situated on a small raised area and offers a spectacular panorama. During 1425 the manner was probably victim of a fire, but successively was not rebuilt. Today it is an enchanting inhabited castle, owned by  Fritz Dellago since 1977, who put into act an opera of reinforcing restructuration. Inside the ruins you can find a tavern used as a point of refreshment.

Castle of Appiano

The castle was built in 1130 and was one of the most imposing noble residences in the land. Since 2016 is became the town’s property and can be visited every day (except Wednesdays) from 11am to 3.30pm (with a guide). The tavern of the castle of Appiano is open every day (except Wednesdays) from 10am to 5pm.

Messner Mountain Museum

The ancient walls of Castle Firmiano have welcomed the MMM Messner Mountain Museum, where paintings, sculptures, symbolic objects and relics relating to the theme of “the mountain” are displayed. The museum is open from the third Sunday of March to the second Sunday in November from 10am to 6pm (closed on Thursdays).

Archaeological Museum of South Tyrol (Ötzi)

The Archaeological Museum of South Tyrol in the centre of Bolzano exhibits the ice man, the mummy of Similaun, with clothing and equipment. Also presented is the nature of the alpine region, the customs and local costumes, religious cults and much more.

Museum of Natural Science of South Tyrol

In the old urban residence and head office of the administrative offices of the emperor Maximilian I, the story of the landscape and nature of South Tyrol is narrated. Furthermore, here takes place every year, many temporary exhibitions dedicated to the theme of “Nature”.

Museion Bolzano (Museum of modern and contemporary art)

The Museion is counted amongst the most important museums of contemporary art in Italy and in the whole of the alpine arc. The collection includes over 4.500 works proposing as nucleus of research, art and language, the language of sculptures, the critical rereading of the present and the position of extra European artists.
