Our manor in South Tyrol, our pride and joy

Hospitality – that’s what makes us happy, and that’s what we live for

Ever since the Rungghof was first founded, we have had a clear aim in mind: To make the old South Tyrolean vineyard a hotel of renown, where every night’s stay, every dish and every moment would become a holiday highlight. We want our guests here to be filled with joy, to feel free, to find inner peace and experience true pleasure. Our deepest wish is to preserve the original charm of bygone days, the history and tradition of the historic rooms and the spirit of the past without foregoing the sparkle of modernity. That’s how comfort and luxury merge together into a single, inseparable whole for you here at the Rungghof.

The Runggers and their ancestral seat

A winegrowing and trading family of the late Middle Ages, they were first mentioned in documents of the Oltradige region dating back to the 14th century. The site of the Rungghof today is that of the former ancestral seat.

1504

A family, a coat of arms

It was Roman-German Emperor Maximilian I who conferred the family coat of arms on brothers Hans and Ulrich Rungger, a symbol of family bonds and a shared identity.

1524

The cornerstone of the manor today

Andre, son of Hans, the most famous Rungger – Mayor of Bolzano in 1492 – built the Rungghof as it stands today in 1524, in traditional Oltradige style. And still today, the elegant atmosphere of those long-gone days pervades our every room.

1615

A family history comes to a close

Felizitas, a wealthy and well-respected woman, last living member of the Rungghof family, died in 1615, and with her the Rungger family line. In the following centuries, the manor was primarily owned by farmers.

1917

New owners, new vision

Since 1917 the manor has been owned by the Mauracher family, who converted the old farmstead into a country inn during the Great Depression of the 1930s.

1930

From farmstead to country inn

Since the 1930s, the Rungghof has been a well-known country inn and getaway destination.
The old walls, countless frescoes and unique architectural style of the manor still today remind us of times long gone.

2012

From country in to culinary temple

The Head Chef wows guests with his imaginative culinary creations and infuses every dish he serves with his passion for old recipes and contemporary tastes.
